Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental issues facing the world today.
This essay is going to explain some problems it causes and some possible solutions.
One problem caused by plastic pollution is the damage it causes to sea life. People throw plastic into rivers or on beaches and it gets into the ocean. Many fish eat the plastic and can get very sick. People can even get sick from eating these fish. Governments around the world should make people pay large fines for throwing plastic onto the ground or into rivers. This should make people scared to litter and reduce plastic pollution.
Another problem caused by plastic pollution is the amount of space needed to store it. Many plastics take as long as 600 years to disappear. Many objects, such as straws or bottles, are only used once. After that, they are often sent to landfill sites where they are left. These sites could be parks for children to play in or forests for animals to live in. Governments around the world should ban single-use plastics. If the plastic can be recycled or reused, it doesn’t need to be stored in a landfill.
To conclude, plastic pollution causes damage to sea life and needs a lot of land to be stored. These problems can be solved by making people pay large fines for littering and by banning single-use plastics.

TAPESCRIP
Jane: Hi, Jimmy. How was your holiday in the North of Vietnam?
Jimmy: It was fantastic! I just got back yesterday. I had a really great time, and I visited Tràng An.
Jane: Isn’t that where they take tourists on boats?
Jimmy: That’s right. They have a boat trip, but it’s the amazing landscape that Tràng An is famous for.
Jane: What’s it like, Jimmy?
Jimmy: Tràng An has many lakes and rivers surrounded by incredible limestone karst mountains and caves. There are rivers that go right through the mountains, and you can go through them on a boat.
Jane: Wow! That sounds great! So, did you take a boat trip in Tràng An, Jimmy?
Jimmy: Of course. It was the boat trip that was the best thing about the visit. It lasted about an hour, and we explored a lot of caves. The landscape is really beautiful. It’s so beautiful that UNESCO made Trang An a world heritage site, and tourists come from everywhere to see it.
Jane: And did you see any pagodas? I heard that there’s one by the river.
Jimmy: There is. Our guide showed it to us as we went past on the boat. It’s called the Bái Đính Pagoda. It’s a very beautiful old building and I took a picture of it.
Jane: So, do you recommend it?
Jimmy: Oh, definitely. You should go. I went to a few other places including Hanoi, but it was the visit to Tràng An that was the highlight of my whole holiday.

7. Trees release CO2 into the atmosphere, worsening global warming. A. True B. False
8. Terry Ferma proposes that companies cutting trees should not plant replacement trees. A. True B. False
TAPESCRIP
Terry: Thank you very much. For those of you who don’t know, my name is Terry Ferma. I am here to talk about a problem that is destroying our natural environment.
That problem is deforestation. I want to tell you about several problems that it causes, as well as to give you some hope. I will tell you about two simple things that can be done to improve the situation.
The first main problem caused by deforestation is that it is removing the habitats of animals. Trees are home to many insects, birds, and mammals. When a large amount of trees are cut down, these animals have nowhere to go.
The second problem I want to highlight is the increased amount of CO2 in the air. Trees use CO2 as food and create the oxygen we breath. Too much CO2 increases global warming.
But, there are things that can be done. Firstly, before trees are cut down, the animals that live there must be relocated. This prevents species from becoming endangered. Secondly, companies that cut down trees should be made to plant replacement trees. This will mean that there will always be enough trees to keep CO2 levels low.
Thank you all for listening.
If anyone has any questions, please come and speak to me in the hall. Thank you.
